The Big Q is a fictional store where Michael Novotny works for the first season of Queer as Folk, and is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Big Q is much like the popular Walmart retail store of United States of America.
Background[]
Bob the original store manager of the Big Q. Michael and Andrew are his assistant managers and have plenty of employees. Marley and Tracy amongst several employees within the store.
Season 1[]
Bob promotes Michael to be the store manager. Michael steps down from management and resigns when he moves to Portland to be with David Cameron.
Season 2[]
Bob promotes Andrew after Michael steps down and resigns. Tracy welcomes him back to The Big Q, but mockingly, Andrew hires him back at his former position as an assistant manager again since he took over his store manager position leaving with David. Michael is forced to where a clown uniform being the first hired again much to the humor of Melanie Marcus and Lindsay Peterson when they ask him for a balloon for Gus Peterson-Marcus.
Some of the Big Q workers go to Pride 2002 with Tracy. Michael dressed in drag and goes up to the group with Tracy noticing it was him. After a few macho comments from Andrew, Michael tests his macho attitude with a kiss leaving him stunned and the other mockingly laughing at him.
On another day at work. After so much aggravation from Andrew, he stands up to him when he tries to make him wear the clown uniform again. Michael quits his job at the Big Q, but before he does, he kisses Andrew on the lips and smiles making him realized it was he that kissed him at pride leaving Andrew humiliated in front of Tracy and anyone else that witnessed.
It's unknown what happened to Andrew after that, however, it's implied off-screen, Tracy gets promoted within the store.
Season 3[]
Although, it is not exactly specified when she was promoted, but Tracy holds the position as the store manager. Michael attempt to speak to Tracy to help his friend, Ted Schmidt, get hired there as an assistant bookkeeper, however, he doesn't get the job because he is over qualified.
