Queer as Folk Wiki

Jennifer and Debbie become good friends through Justin Taylor in the Showtime drama series Queer as Folk. When Debbie meets Justin he is struggling with coming out to his family and she offers support and advice to both him and Jennifer. Because Debbie had been through the same thing with Michael, Jennifer continues to come to Debbie for advice and the two strike up a friendship.

Summary[]

What better to understand what your child is going through then someone who has lived through it already.

Debbie has helped Jennifer through some of the hardest parts of her and Justin’s relationship as she went through similar with Michael at that age. The friendship was solid enough when by the time Justin had reached the point where he couldn’t return home due to issues with his father, she consents to Justin staying with her to live as an independent gay teenager. Jennifer respects the fact that she is like a second mother to Justin.

Jennifer joins PFLAG with Debbie. She soon befriends all Justin’s friends as well as various members of the Pittsburgh LGBTQ community, becomes more outspoken and begins to become more aggressive in reaching out as she is influenced by Debbie.
